Mahjabeen Foundation (MjF) was registered in December
1987 as a charitable trust, under the Trust Act of 1982. The Trust is
administered by a Board of Trustees who is responsible for laying down the
policies, approving the annual budget, accounts and overseeing the working
of the Trust.
The accounts of the Trust are annually audited by a firm
of Chartered Accountants. The management of the day to day activities is
assigned to various Trustees who report back to the Board.

This is not purely a new venture, before the creation of
this Foundation some of the senior Trustees with the help of donors have
since 1965 supported many needy and deserving students under the Lilkhair Scholarship
scheme for higher education.
This scheme has now been merged with MjF. The major
focus of the foundation and the generous individuals who are supporting it
is to fight abject poverty that inflicts our rural areas.

The major focus of the foundation and the generous
individuals who are supporting it is to fight abject poverty that inflicts
our rural areas. The Mahjabeen Foundation in its own limited way has
accepted the challenge to break this vicious circle of ignorance and
poverty.
It has decided to work with rural women and children. We
are trying to light a candle in the wind. It is very difficult task but
together we can do it.
